QORLS practice days / times
« on: August 23, 2017, 05:48:24 PM »
Hi,

New to the forum.
I am looking at purchasing a 4x4 1/5 scale for racing but would really like to see and talk to people at the track to get a good feel of things.
What days and or times do people go to the Belmont track for practice as I understand the next race day isn't until 10th Sep?

Thanks

Thanks Pappa Smurf,

Was thinking to go the way of the 5T but the more I read the more undecided I get.
There are some cheap DBXL's floating around but wasn't sure on them for racing ... does anyone race these?
Had a Rovan baja money pit and it was a nightmare as everything possible broke so am a bit scared of clones ... see people are happily and successfully racing the DTT.

Cheers

Tar,

Seeing that about the DBXL as I read further.
Glad I didn't pull the pin on one of the cheap ones floating around.

Hi David.
Practice days arent scheduled at Qorls due to many factors, its more a fly by the wire kind of thing. If there is an opportunity for it, we will post up here and on our Facebook page. Always Sunday only (pre arranged with a committee member present) for practice and club events. Please note this is due to our lease agreement with the QRA and insurance purposes.
As for 4wd cars for racing, the DBXL can be an all rounder, great for bashing but will cost you a heap of time, money and experience to get it to a race worthy platform. The 5T is a proven truck on track, very stable and durable. The plus side also is there are plenty of parts, help and setup advice available amongst the guys at Qorls as they make up a third of our race days consistently. Also plenty of second hand 5Ts available going fairly cheap at the moment.
Hope this helps mate
