Can anyone read Japanese? I need some help...
« on: August 06, 2016, 10:28:45 PM »
Hi All,

I emailed Tonegawa about some issues with my PS-050, they replied in English which made no sense to me so I asked them to reply in Japanese.

I thought some/one of the online translators would work but I guess there is some unique wording they don't understand.

If you can read Japanese please PM me and I'll share the Tonegawa reply in the hope it makes sense to you.

Thanks.

Thanks Pappa Smurf, I already read everything they have on the website.

My servo is making a buzzing sound constantly, even when idle. Below is the translated response from Tonegawa for those that are interested.

###### Translation by /r/translator
Basically it says there are 4 reasons for sounds from your servo. There are some odd mistakes in the Japanese, and I don't know anything about servos so some of the translation might need some creative interpretation on your end.

1/ The "neutral precision" is good
2/ The decelerator's gears are worn
3/ The potentiometer has worn down
4/ The servo's load has not fully returned to neutral

You have to figure out which, but you can use it without issue.

Hi Gents - Thanks for the follow up.

Yes, it makes the same sounds with the horn/arm disconnected (and idle) and they servo seems to work perfectly. A bit jerky but I think that may be my transmitter, I haven't played with it much yet.

You can see/listen to it if you like: You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Tonegawa say to just keep using it... I'm guessing it will fail completely at some stage.

Check frame rate/Servo speed on transmitter
Different brands call it different things
Could be also under analog or digital servos
You need to select slowest and analog

I think it's a analog servo I checked into them right before the big Hitec came out
If my memory is right
I'd center the transmitter out to 0 on the trims and sub-trims and try it
It's hard to say without hearing it
But move trim one notch at a time L/R  and see it it stops
Digital transmitters go one jump at a time and it may be to much of a jump for servo and causing the noise
Look in transmitter setup and see if you can make smaller jumps  I know Specturm you can adjust this and Futuba I think you can I just changed over to futuba and I'll have to read instructions

I went and watched it boy it is humming and is jurking not smooth at all
I think it's the transmitter set up in digital and to big of a jump see if you can change it to analog
Also someone else said check the frame rate that's a good idea what transmitter is it

mc5 and nitrocat - Some great info there for a newbie like me.

I think this is user error plain and simple, quite embarrassing. I had my 4PXR set to digital servo type, I see there are "Speed" and "Response" settings too. I'll play around with them tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

I'm sure it will be fixed now.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi Gents - As suspected, the servo is working perfectly now. Very quiet and smooth.

Such a noob move :)

Thanks for all the advice guys.
