Brand new KM T2000 barely moves, clutch problems?
« on: August 27, 2015, 09:15:33 AM »
Hi everyone, just joined the forum so excited to get advice /suggestions from the experts. I just bought a King Motor T2000 and after I fixed the carb gasket problem i ran into another issue. My truck barely moves even at WOT. She just crawls. Only way to get her up to speed is if I run it down a hill and only after an additional 75 meters is it moving at a good clip. After running it for 15 or so minutes I checked on it and I smelled what seemed to be plastic with something else burning. Only thing I can think it could be is the clutch. I checked the engine temp and it was at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Any ideas /suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated. This is my first 1/5 scale gas truck so I'm somewhat new to the 2 stroke gasoline engine but I've been into rc (1/10 scale mostly) for 15 years now. Thank you in advance

G'day mate and welcome to LSD.....

Have you taken any covers off and had a look at the belts etc

And does the engine rev freely or struggle

I would say you've melted your spur gear

Check the bolts behind spur gear that hold plate on. Had one back out, pre loctite bang head It rubbed on gear acting like a brake and caused plastic smell
