Victoria’s New 1/5 track at P&DARCs in cardina pakenham
« on: November 10, 2014, 09:37:28 AM »
Victoria’s New 1/5 track location has been confirmed!

Well it has been a long time coming but we finally have confirmed a site for a future 1/5 scale track!!! Located 5 minutes off Bolarto Rd, South Pakenham.

I have acquired with help from the committee the site after talks with the P&DARCs  (Pakenham and District Aircraft Radio Control Society ) society President. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

The land was purchased in 1978 via a collaboration of members at the time. The club has over 100 acres and uses about ¼ of the property.  They have kindly allocated a parcel of land to us that is suitable for a 1/5 scale off-road track. There aim is to have an Rc park in Vic

The site has full amenities. There are club rooms, a massive 200,000 litre water tank as well as a near by dam for unlimited water, full site 240v power with a charging station and 12v bus bars with Lipo boxes. There will also be access to several tractors, one with a 3 way bucket. 2 ride on mowers etc.

LSCV has acquired a complete timing system and I am currently sourcing agg pipe, materials for drivers stand etc. I have also arranged for a company to sponsor the club in the form of fencing and other materials.

We are all very exited as I’m sure LSD members on the east side of Melbourne are as well. It is a fantastic site and we will keep you all updated as we go. We should get a date to commence on the 6/12/14.

We are in the process of arranging a fee structure which includes an associate membership fee to P&DARCS. We will keep everybody posted!!

TOO early we need to know the exact parcel of land on offer It seems they have changed their mind from west side of drive to east side. MUCH BETTER thumbsup But we need, in conjunction with them, to put pegs in the ground thumbsup Until we have agreed boundaries there is no point talking layout. Could be long and skinny or more open dontknow

Was thinking closer to the Dam the better.

Don't really need to know the dimensions to express Ideas Richo, what else we gonna do until the 6th of Dec  dontknow.

Do People want banked up corners, Whoops, Rhythm section, big jumps, small jumps, fast and flowing or more technical, Grass track, Clay, Sandy Soil etc, etc, etc. There's plenty we can discuss.

It's not setting anything in concrete to just toss a few Ideas around.

as far as track layout goes, what are jump sizes etc going to be built around i.e.: standard motor/suspension setup or a big block setup upgraded suspension.

also don't want sandy soil to race on.

Sandy soil is my favourite but hard/time consuming to maintain. I reckon It'd be cool to have a bit of everything if possible. Like the US MX tracks these days.

Jumps will be built for all cars dontknow. The whole track will be, just hopefully not totally oriented towards euro cars like all the other tracks in Oz.
Jump size means bugger all. It's all about the take off and landing angles.
Short and sharp take offs and landings = !rccar!. Not so much the size of the jump.
With limited room they obviously aren't going to be huge gaps where you'll need a BB engine.
