Track 3 looks fast, good for bajas that don't turn, the track 1 and 2 look sick for a losi or mcd, depends what everyone runs. Then go the opposite to make it more interesting

Ozzy when we were faced with the same choice we came to the realisation that the actual layout wasn't THAT important as long is had some fast sections and some technical sections, it was more about squeezing in as much track as we could as our space was limited and it's kept everyone's interest for 3 years now without major mods.

How much room do you guys have? What sort of track length/lap times are you aiming at?

A couple of tips we learnt when we built the track in Sydney...

- make the track width a MINIMUM of 4m at all points, you need a lot of room for passing
- use all of the land as close to the drivers stand as possible, it makes it so much easier to race when you can clearly see the cars. The SOLS track is between 200 and 250m track length depending on if it's driving line or centre line that you take, lap times are between low 20's and high 20's depending on skill level.
- make the berms usable, if you've ever seen any footage of the SOLS track the berms are critical and can help lower the lap times, they aren't just there for looks
- drainage... make sure you have it from day 1! We didn't and have revisited a number of times where water pools in berms, it is such a pain in the neck to rip up a berm to add drainage
- don't get carried away with jumps, they are easy to add to a good track design

Hope you guys settle on a design and get it happening soon!

Just saw the other thread regarding size of the land - area looks awesome and should be able to support a fast, free flowing design!

Well done to those involved in securing it!

Thanks MM thats some good advice, the land we have is 70m x 115m or there abouts. Not sure on track length, Gav would probably know more about that part.

We are a little limited to what we can do to the land so it's going to be a grass track with Ag pipe around the edges

I would go number 2. Personally the more technical the better.

And what program did you use ozzy for number 2 & 3???

If you guys run on the track often that grass doesn't stand a chance gun

Its a hard call between 2 & 3. I' like the idea of a fast, free flowing track. After seeing the land pic's, i think the drivers stand would be best suited at top of the hill with a nice down hill straight with a jump or 2.

Guy's here is a track design that can be built now, Gav has enough material to built it.

Here is a pic but i have also uploaded the PDF file so you can see much better detail. I guess this is option 4

I like 4 as well, but it could be a bit too simple..
I it is too easy, it will become boring quickly, and visa versa applies also..

Too hard and people will hate it..

Maybe stick to this design and add a double apex somewhere.
Or have portable jumps and chicanes.
That way you can move them around to keep it more interesting.

Just opened another page, Same track design as option 3, just with better detail.
I like the design. Seems like a good size. When do we start work? This weekend?

its missing 2 hairpins on the LHS, could maybe use some of that extra space for a chicane.

The track is going to be a flat track (no burms) we can build wooden jumps but basically no dirt, it has to be kept as grass.

One good thing about this is it can be easily changed.
