Ozzy's Big Custom Crawler
« on: September 03, 2013, 08:00:04 PM »
Ok guy's i have been thinking about doing this for a long time and with all these crawlers getting around i decided to make a start.....

This was my old Nitro Truggy that was turned into Brushless and now it's going to be transformed into a Big Crawler, im not sure on the wheel base yet and im not sure where im going to go with this so it will just evolve along the way.....

I will need a transmission and some drive shafts that will fit the 8mm outputs on the diff...... I'll make the skid and links out of Delrin.....

This is what i have to start with

And this is what's left to work with, i need to lock up both diffs....

Locked up the front arms on a slight angle to give the center diff some ground clearance, also swapped over the steering blocks so the steering links will be out in front.

Now this is the look and style im sort of after

I have a red Rubicon body from my savage, i'll probably use it on this build, it will also help me work out the wheel base

i think 15 looks more life like

imagine a crawler with full 360* swivel front to rear, as in you have a cylinder style chassis with the driveshaft running through the middle so the front end can swivel from right angle to right angle to the rear end

I think ill end up going with a 16 inch wheel base, ill leave the body at first or at the least trim it a little. Later on if it's all going well i might tube it thumbsup
